Summer Blessings!

Today is the official start of summer, although we've been thoroughly enjoying our first few weeks of summer break. After the kids' last day of school, we went on holiday to Arizona. I have written before of our two categories of vacations: adventures (like Malta and Turkey) or relaxations (like Spain or Arizona).

This tip mainly consisted of playing and relaxing, napping and eating, with some museums and activities thrown in to break up the days. It was a much needed vacation from the house, the yard, and the hustle-bustle of our Chicago lives.

Now we're back and getting ready for a visit from our friends from Paris who arrive on Wednesday! So exited to see them! A week after they depart, the wonderful Kyle Cassidy will be coming to conduct a photo seminar at our house! Spots are nearly filled, but contact me if you're interested.

Many many exciting things in the works for Fall 2010! The Chicago Literary Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010. Save the date, it's going to be an unexpected delight!

Also in the works are several projects of creative collaboration with the talented Madeline Carol Matz! Yay!!! And in the midst of it all, writing, writing, and more writing! I promise to try and update with greater regularity.

Time for tea.

I love it when you post photos of the children! They're awesome. And it sounds like a lovely, lovely trip.

We just got back from Chicago, and Gaia's Womb with my mom, two nieces and sister. It was incredible! Then Amanda's wedding, and managed to squeeze in 78 miles on my bike. It was like being in a jungle, as the bike paths led through thick, green woods along the Fox River for miles and miles... I could smell the water, I could smell the green—the leaves, the moss. So beautiful, still, I was very happy to be back in my dry Laramie.

Tell me, are the inductions secret until the night? Does the press come? I know it will be a fantastic night for you all, how wonderful.

Have you read Kelly Link yet? Her collections are Stranger Things Happen, Magic For Beginners, and Pretty Monsters (I'm reading that now).

Happy Solstice! Have a picnic on your front lawn!
love, me

Re: :-)
Hi Sandy,
This year we announced the six inductees at the Sanfilippo Benefit, but it had been decided that the inaugural inductees would be historical writers. I'm quite certain that next year things will change a bit.

I haven't read Kelly Link but have made a note to check out her work.

Belated Solstice blessings!
