Come out to the Borders flagship store on Michigan Avenue this weekend and support the Chicago Writers Association.

How can you help during Borders Benefit Days?

1. Make purchases at the Borders store at 830 N. Michigan Avenue (across from Water Tower Place). All you have to do when you make your purchases is give the store cashier a Borders Benefit Days voucher. You can download the vouchers here:

http://windycitywriters.com/storage/BenefitDaysVoucherCWA.pdf

You can also request a voucher from the cashier if you don't have one.

As a tie-in to the event, six CWA authors will be signing books from 2-4 p.m. both days at the Borders on Michigan Avenue. Billy Lombardo ("The Man with Two Left Arms"), Bayo Ojikutu ("47th Street Black" and "Free Burning"), and David W. Berner ("Accidental Lessons") will appear Saturday, July 24. Gary W. Moore ("Playing with the Enemy"), Michael Weeks ("The Complete Civil War Road Trip Guide"), and Arnie Bernstein ("Bath Massacre") will appear the following day, Sunday, July 25.

2. Can't make it Downtown? Make purchases Saturday or Sunday at Borders.com and use the online code CHW7245BD.

3. Encourage family and friends to shop at the Borders' flagship North Michigan Avenue store or at Borders.com that day. Share the vouchers with everyone you know.

Please note that you can use the Benefit Days vouchers with Borders gift cards or coupons.

Borders will donate a percentage of the total net sales to the CWA. The higher the total net sales, the greater the percentage CWA earns (between 10-25 percent).

This is not only a great opportunity to raise money for CWA, it's also a great opportunity to put the spotlight on our organization and its members.

Your purchases will help CWA to build up projects it has already begun, such as the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame and its mentoring program for teen writers, and to develop new projects to further educate and promote the city's literary treasures.

If you're a writer in the Chicago area, think about joining the CWA!

Hope to see some of you there.
